Residential & Commercial Plumbing Services in Orange County by Orange Coast Plumbing

Drain & Sewer Line Services

Orange Coast  Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning service technicians are experts in fixing a multitude of Residential and Commercial Sewer problems.  Problems with plugged sinks, toilets, and showers due to clogs from hair, soap, paper, toys, grease, and other material are promptly fixed by professional service technicians using rooting machines.  Leaking drainage under sinks and in the wall due to rust, heavy misuse, and repeated clogging are easily fixed by diagnosing problematic areas and replacing them.

Sewer Line Problems

For bigger drains our technicians use fiber optic video cameras to see the cause of the clog.  In some cases it can be a crushed or collapsed pipe.  If you have trees in the yard it can be a problem with tree roots getting into the pipes often where the pipes are joined together.  Because most sewer lines are joined together in sections problems such as offset sewer lines occur because over time sections of the ground shift or sink and cause those sewer sections to become offset with one another.  Unfavorable soil conditions or poorly plumbed pipes can cause bellies in the sewer line where debris collects and doesn’t drain off properly.  Some types of sewer line corrode faster than others causing any of the above problems.  If left untreated any of the above can cause a major blockage that will stop the flow of sewage from leaving the premises completely.  Our technicians can employ locating equipment and video camera equipment to find what section of pipe is clogged and where it is physically located at.  Depending on the seriousness of the sewer problem our technicians can prescribe the best treatment to fix most sewer and drain problems.

When to consider sewer line replacing?

When VIDEO reveals that the sewer line is irrevocably blocked, crushed, or broken and the break is LOCATED using sonde locating equipment.  Orange Coast Plumbing employs the use of video camera equipment to determine whether a sewer line is a lost cause, so there is no guess work.  Snaking and Hydro-Jetting sewer lines are designed to clear blockages and clean lines.  Unfortunately these methods do not revive broken lines, resolve offset lines, keep roots from coming back, or flatten out bellies.

Digging up and Replacement

The most common method of fixing a sewer line is to break up any flooring above the problem area excavate your way to it, cut it out, replace it, backfill the area, and pour cement to replace the slab if it was broken into.  As you can imagine this process is the most disruptive.

Pipe Bursting and Sewer Line Pulling

Another method of fixing a sewer line is to dig up the start of the problem line and the end of the problem line.  Afterwards, we burst the defective line using hydraulic equipment that at the same time is pulling new sewer line
In the end, the holes are backfilled and covered leaving only those two points as evidence to the repair.  This method is good for use in yards, under planters, expensive landscaping, and commercial buildings as the evidence of the work is easy to disguise or remove.  Unfortunately, in some homes it can be problematic to replace the flooring or match tile, nonetheless, this method is still a viable option.

Trenchless Pipe Lining

The last method for fixing a sewer line doesn’t require any digging, jack-hammering, and leaves the floor untouched.  First, we hydrojet the line to clean it of any debris.  Next we locate an existing cleanout or opening into the line, insert a special IAPMO approved hollow sleeve that will be hardened using a special epoxy resin and then expand the sleeve to conform to the shape of the original sewer line. The end result leaves a new seamless line inside the old that works just as well as a new one.

Video Camera Line Inspection

Video cameras have become one of the most valuable tools in the plumbing business. Specially made fiber optic cameras allow for a visual inspection of underground sewer lines and other piping to determine the condition of the inside of the pipe. A flexible rod with a high-resolution video camera on its tip is inserted into the pipe for inspection. Video images are transmitted to the camera operator and can be saved onto a videotape for a permanent record. Radio transmitters on the camera record the depth and physical location from the surface so that defects and obstructions can be corrected cost effectively.

Video cameras have also been used to locate lost jewelry and other valuables, as well as animals that have become lost or trapped in pipes.
